Will I be trailering my Pontoon boat a long distance or just in and out of the lake?

Picking the right Pontoon boat trailer depends a lot on, how far you will be towing your Pontoon boat.

If you are just going a short distance and only taking your Pontoon boat out once or twice a year, any Pontoon trailer will do. Painted or galvanized, single or double axle, scissor trailer or even a flat trailer will work.

If you will be towing your pontoon boat a long distance or making frequent trips to and from the water then your choice of a Pontoon trailer becomes much more critical. While a well built scissor trailer will work, the narrow axle width makes for a much less stable ride than a standard pontoon bunk trailer. At the very least you should opt for a double axle scissor trailer. A much better choice for long distance pontoon towing or frequent hauls would be a standard bunk pontoon trailer. If you will not be traveling great distances or hauling a very heavy pontoon a single axle will be just fine However, if your pontoon boat is heavy and or you will be towing your pontoon long distance do yourself a favor and buy the best, correctly weighted, dual axle pontoon trailer you can afford. Loading and towing your pontoon boat on the correct trailer can be very easy even if it’s your first boat and first attempt at towing. Other than there large appearance when on a trailer they are actually easier to load and tow than most other types of boat.
